Astrology is also an important factor in some approaches to Feng Shui; as Ch'i energy is affected by the movements of planetry bodies especially the moon your Ch'i will be different depending upon the year, and month, day that you were born in. This mapping of Ch'i at a given time can be extended to when your home was built, when to move into the house or fortunes for the coming year.
Nine Ki Astrology is based on the 9 year lunar-cycle which is also the base for the Chinese new year. The usual Nine Ki arrangement, moves in a cycle with every trigram occupying the centre once every nine years, the positions of the trigrams can then be interpreted in relation to their position.
The table below shows the position of the each Ki number for the centre Ki year. As a point of reference 2002 is at Ki 7, with the Ki number decreasing by one at the turn of the Chinese New Year (unless the Ki Number for that year is one, then the next year the number reverts to 9).
